Care Tips
Don’t worry, your pearl jewelry is durable
enough to be enjoyed and worn on a daily basis. These common
sense guidelines will help prolong the life and look of
your pearls:
- Wipe your pearls with a clean soft cloth
saturated with alcohol after wearing them. (Avoid cleaning
solutions, submersion, ultrasonic cleaners, or chemicals).
- Place your pearl jewelry on after your
hairspray and perfume have dried.
- Protect your pearls from being scratched
by storing your pearl jewelry (or packing them for a trip)
separately from your other jewelry, especially metal and
hard gemstones.
- It is best to wear your pearls regularly,
which exposes them to natural environmental humidity.
It is not recommended that you store your pearls in a
safe or drawer for an extended period of time, as your
pearls could dry out and crack.
- If you wear your pearl necklace frequently,
have it re-strung on fresh silk every 1 to 2 years (a
local jeweler can usually provide this service for a reasonable
fee). Olive oil may be used every few years to preserve
luster.
